More than 70 members of Pontiac Notre Dame Prep’s band and choir programs headed to Pearl Harbor, to celebrating the bravery of America’s men and women in the United States Armed Forces. The Salute to Valor Music Festival, was held July 4 on the Battleship Missouri Memorial on Ford Island in Pearl Harbor to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the World War II attack on Pearl Harbor. Congratulations to all who attended the 2016 Discovery at the Grand! 520 students and parents participated this year along with our guest speakers STEM Ambassador Jay Flores, Kid Motivator Jerry Jacoby, Michigan Author Johnathan Rand, Paleontologist, Joseph J. Kchodl “Paleo Joe”, and Rebecca Lessard of Wings of Wonder.
For the past Fifteen years, Corporate Travel has held its signature Discovery at the Grand featuring educational and motivational speakers from “Great Lake State.” Groups of middle school students gather at Mackinac Island’s Grand Hotel to discover the beauty of their state, community, and person.
During Easter break high school orchestra and band members took a performance tour of Germany and Austria. The students experienced the rich musical culture, performed at world-class venues, and attended clinics with maters of Vienna.

Along with Corporate Travel CEO David DiFranco, WDIV Meteorologist Chuck Gaidica, and Jerry Jacoby, youth inspirational speaker, the group gathered on the porch of Mackinac Island’s Grand Hotel to participate as Chuck Gaidica broadcasts from the Grand Hotel.
Former Detroit Chief of Police, Dr. Ike McKinnon, joined our group along with Corporate Travel CEO David DiFranco, and WDIV Meteorologist Chuck Gaidica. The group gathered on the porch of Mackinac Island’s Grand Hotel to participate as Chuck Gaidica broadcasted from the Grand Hotel.
Our group of student choirs traveled to Vienna, Austria for our 2009 International Haydn Festival. Below is pictured the performance at the Musikverein, otherwise known at the “Golden Hall.”
Among the many informative events was the tour of the Sydney Opera House, the iconic Australian architectural structure.
Student performers travel to New York’s famous Carnegie Hall for this exciting event. They had the privilege to perform on stage for the Motor City Salute to the Big Apple.
Clinician Dr. Mark Webb instructed the talented group comprising the choir during the series of activities conducted in the Meadowbrook Mansion.
